Vets Cheshire cup semi-final

Hooton Vets progressed through to the final of the Vets Cheshire Cup Final after defeating Parkfield Vets 4-2 on Saturday. Doubles for both Dave Rudge and Paul Howell earned Peter Fearon’s men a place in the final where they will meet ‘David Carrington’s’ Mersey Royal Vets in what will be the second of two titanic games.

First off Mersey Royal and Hooton will meet in the FA Junior Cup Final which will be played at Heswall’s Gayton Park ground on Friday, March 29 with an 11am kick off. The Cheshire Cup Final venue and date is yet to be confirmed.

CWFL Life Members Cup

Higher Bebington Kelma Vets put last Saturday's Cheshire Cup exit disappointment behind them by defeating Championship side Hoole Rovers to progress into the Quarter Final of the Life Members Cup. Johnny Sumner netted for Kelma, but Hoole replied with a goal of their own to send the game to penalties. Kelma held their nerve to win 4-1 in the shoot-out.

CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division

In the Premier Division, Moreton FC who spent much of the first half of the season in the lower end of the table, have seen their form in the second half of the season take a turn for the better. They now sit third after a brilliant 1-0 away win against Kelsall on Saturday thanks to a solitary goal from Rob Smith.

Shaftsbury had returning player Danny Whitehead to thank as he plundered four goals in Shaftsbury’s 5-3 victory against Christleton. Paul Kane was also on target for Shafts with Christleton’s goals coming via efforts from Matt Jones, Will Harrison and Alan Bond.

CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship

Handbridge defeated Sutton Rangers Reserves by the odd goal in seven with Tommy Booth on fine form as he bagged a hat-trick, Nath Moffatt also netted as Handbridge stay third in the Championship.

Upton JFC defeated Orange Athletic to keep their very slim hopes of winning the Championship alive. Cam Fleet hit a treble, whilst Jack Middleton, Eatham Ramsden, Jord Mather and Josh Frost all got singles. Waggon & Horses Reserves will only need a point against bottom club Orange to win the Championship on Saturday.

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3

Ashton Vets went six points clear at the top of Division 3 with a narrow 1-0 win against Tarvin Vets, thanks to a strike from Will Nelson. Second placed FC Farndon vets dropped points in their pursuit to catch Ashton as they drew 2-2 against Upton JFC vets. Geraint Jenkins and Craig Williams bagged for Farndon whilst Gary O’Reilly and James Edgell score for Upton.

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 4

The only game in Division 4 saw Hoole Vets beat Crossway Vets by the odd goal in five. Rich Whincup, Alec Hutchinson and Dave Hughes all netted for Hoole, whilst Crossway's consolation goals came from a Josh Jones double.

CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 5

Wirral Masters Vets took a huge step towards winning the Division 5 title by defeating bottom club Rake and Pikel Vets 4-2. John Davies hit a brace, Mike Davies a single and there was an own goal. Pikel had Chris Scutter and Pete Wheeler on target.
