VUAXHALL Motors FC have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper, Jack Atkinson, from City of Liverpool FC.

The 23-year-old joins the Ellesmere Port outfit club after gaining a wealth of experience in non league football.

Atkinson started his career by progressing through the youth ranks at Liverpool, Everton and Shrewsbury Town before joining Wolves and playing in their Under 21s team for the 2018/19 season.

He then took the step into open age football, signing for Bangor City in the League of Wales.

After Covid, he joined Prestatyn, before getting a move to join a resurgent Bury AFC.

He won the North West Counties First Division North in his first season at the Shakers, meaning promotion to the Premier Division.

He then took the step up to Hyde United, before re-joining Bury as they moved back to Gigg Lane at the beginning of this season.

The Welsh shot stopper joined fellow Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One West side, City of Liverpool in October.

After a dual registration at Burscough, Atkins arrives at the VanEupen Arena and will be eligible to play in Saturday’s game at home to Chasetown.

Manager, Danny Holmes said: “We’re buzzing with the signing of Jack. He’s a great character, and one that we feel that we can help to develop and improve.

"We’re excited to have Jack on board with us, and Vauxhalls fans can expect to see a wealth of new signings coming through the door in January.”

Atkinson added: “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity of stepping up and playing for a club with a great set up and a solid foundation. I hope my past experiences can really push us over the second half of the season."
