TRANMERE Rovers are looking to secure their fourth consecutive home league win, when they welcome Swindon Town on Saturday.

Nigel Adkins’ side have won five of their last seven at home in League Two, with a late Connor Jennings goal securing three points against Newport County last time out at Prenton Park.

A narrow 1-0 defeat at Walsall last time out saw their five match unbeaten league run come to an end but assistant manager, Neil Danns, believes the mood remains positive in the camp as they prepare to welcome the Robins.

"The mood is brilliant," said Danns. "We were on a good run and we've had a little hiccup but there were plenty of positives to take from the game and we're looking forward to Saturday.

"It's been a great reaction from both the players and the staff - we've all been working in one direction together and I think you're starting to see that on the pitch now.

"There is still a long way to go but we're improving day by day and the lads are taking onboard the messages we are trying to give them and we're seeing the benefits of that."

While Prenton Park is becoming the much-desired fortress, Rovers' away form remains a concern with Tranmere yet to pick up a win on the road this season.

"We're not specifically targeting our away form but targeting performance in general," said Danns. "I think if you look at Saturday we created enough chances to get a positive result but it wasn't to be and I think it's more important that we improve daily, work towards performances being better and eventually the away results will come - we're confident of that."

Following the Swindon clash, Tranmere travel to Salford City on Boxing Day before ending the year with a Friday night trip to Harrogate Town.

"It's a tough time but I think we look at it from a different perspective," said Danns. "We're focused on the positives and what we can achieve through this period - there are a lot of points to be played for and can we get the performances that we desire?

"The squad will be tested at some point and it's a great opportunity for some of the lads who haven't started or played regularly as I'm sure we will need every one of them and they're really important.

"January is a busy period for every club and there will possibly be ins and outs but at the moment we are just focused on this Christmas period and everyone who is here in the building at the moment."

Saturday's visitors, Swindon, are 12th in League Two. They have won twice on the road this season and have picked up eight points from their last ten matches.

Danns said: "We've done our homework and we know they like to play football.

"They've had some really good results but we want to focus on ourselves - we'll pay them the respect and do our due diligence but on Saturday it's about what we do and about us applying the messages we've been working on in training.

"The fans have been unbelievable this season and I think it's really important they just keep doing what they've been doing because it creates such an atmosphere.

"I know that every team knows they're going to be in for a tough game when they come to our ground so my message to the fans is keep doing what you've been doing because it's been absolutely amazing."

Danns, who played under the likes of Neil Warnock, Sven-Goran Eriksson and Graeme Souness during his playing career, is just starting out on his managerial pathway following a stint as player-manager of Macclesfield Town and the 41-year-old said he was enjoying the experience of working with Rovers boss Nigel Adkins.

He said: "He's unbelievable - I think we all know he's a really positive guy and that rubs off on all of us.

"It's been brilliant for me and for the stage I'm at there's probably no-one better for me to be learning under. He's experienced and has achieved so much in the game and we're all taking on board his messages - we like to call them gems on the training ground and he's got plenty of gems!

"I'm really enjoying it and I think I am developing every day - I've got some great people around me and everybody at the club has been brilliant.

"I'm in a good place and I'm really enjoying the job I have been given and it's been fantastic so far."
