TRANMERE match-winner Connor Jennings said he and his teammates are “full of confidence” after extending their unbeaten run to five games with a 2-1 win over Newport at Prenton Park.

Incredibly, it was the first time Tranmere have come from behind to win a league game since November 2021, when they beat Bradford 2-1 and Jennings, who scored the 88th minute winner, agreed it was a result that might not have been possible a few months ago.

“It was a very bad stat to hear and a positive to have overcome it,” said Jennings. “We are all full of confidence and belief now and during the game when you looked around I think we all thought ‘we are going to win this game’.

“Winning changes things and we’ve settled really well into the shape and we know our jobs - everything fits and we’re getting the rewards for all our hard work.

“I fully believed we were going to win the game and it was a great feeling to knock that one in at the end, especially in front of the Kop.

“I’ve always believed we would be nowhere near the bottom this season and we need to keep looking up and keep improving and things will be OK.”
