ASHVILLE manager Gary Jones says he "cannot wait" for his side's FA Vase Third Round clash with South Liverpool.

Villa welcome the North West Counties First Division North side to the Ray Parker Stadium after Jones' side exited the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday evening following a 1-0 home defeat to Warrington Town,.

But despite the loss, Ashville have shown a recent upturn in their form with five wins from their last six games.

"It'll be a fantastic tie on Saturday and a bit of a derby game," said Jones.

"South Liverpool teams are always tough and they're always hard to beat and they're in good form. It's going to be a brilliant cup tie and it's one I'm looking forward to and every supporter should too."

Jones is no stranger to cup runs having captained Bradford City to a historic win over Premier League side Arsenal in the League Cup in 2012. He then led the team to a 4–3 victory over two legs against Aston Villa in the semi-finals as the Bantams became the the first team from the fourth-tier of English football to reach a major Wembley cup final.

"There was a good crowd on Tuesday and I think it'll be even better on Saturday and I can't wait," said Jones. "Our lads should thrive off it because that is why you want to play the game. You want to play these games because of these big crowds and getting big teams here.

"It will be a tough game but if we play well like we have been and we show the same energy and desire like we have been it will be a good game."
