Cammell Laird 1907 FC travelled to Sandbach United on Saturday and produced a great team effort to secure a well earned share of the spoils.

On chances created they could easily have claimed all three points, but indecision and squandered opportunities in the opening 20 minutes cost them dearly when a missed chance saw United break away and open the scoring in the 24th minute as slack marking saw George Kattah score inside the box.

But to their credit Lairds fought back and they were level after Jay Harvey raced clear and rifled home a superb equaliser in the 26th minute.

The game now ebbed and flowed and Casey Shakeshaft had to be alert to keep the score 1-1 at the interval.

The second period was much the same as both teams sought to get the upper hand, but chances went array and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Lairds are away again next Saturday as they travel to Stafford Town on November 4 for a 3pm kick off.

The reserves had an excellent victory in the Wirral DFA Amateur cup when overcoming second division high flyers Hooton FC after they came from being a goal down to secure a 2-1 success thanks to goals from Ben Crossley and Luke Burns in a great team effort to reach the semi-finals. They are home on November 4 versus Chester Nomads reserves.

The youth team kept up their title challenge when defeating Litherland Remyca 4-2 as Theo McDowell rifled a fine treble and Bobby Baker netted a single.
