RAIN affected another week of fixtures in the Cheshire County League with bad weather playing a part in most games across the region.

In the Premier League, Neston watched Brooklands reach 221-9 declared off 54 overs with Mike Stewart taking 3-70. The visitors had reached 39-1 when the players were forced off.

Oxton's Chris Stenhouse took 5-71 and Alistair Crick 3-51 as Hyde made 222-8 declared from 44 overs. A drawn game saw Oxton reach 78-3 off 27 overs.

In Division Two, Port Sunlight restricted Davenham to 176-5 off 50 overs before overseas pro Tyler Stagg hit 71 in a seven wicket win for the Wirral outfit.

Maritime remain top of Division Three despite a draw against Kinglsey. Vithushan Kanthiraj took 3-21 as the visitors made 139-8 off 35 overs with the hosts' innings closing on 106-9.

Batting first at Winnington Park, Upton made 136-9 off 50 overs with the hosts chasing down the target for the loss of six wickets.

There was better news for Upton earlier in the week when they reached the Finals Day of the Liverpool Echo Knockout Trophy after beating Parkfield Liscard by 24 runs at Greasby Road.

Upton reached 164-4 with Daniel Seaton (67) top scoring before the visitors replied with 140 all out with five balls remaining. David Williams took 4-30.

Finals day will take place on Sunday, August 13 with Upton meeting Birkenhead Park or Northern in the first semi final.

The other semi final will be between Hightown St Mary's or Newton le Willows and Neston or New Brighton.
