A SUCCESSFUL week saw five Wirral sides progress to the second round of the Liverpool Echo Knockout Trophy. 

In-form Birkenhead Park went through on Friday night with a six wicket win over Wavertree. The visitors posted 93-9 off their 20 overs with Chalie Jones' 2-8 the pick of the figures before Alex Harris (21) top scored for the hosts.

Birkenhead St Mary's were bundled out for 81 with New Brighton's Tom Anders taking 3-0 off four balls. Suliman Safi smashed 43 as the home side reached the target off 8.3 overs.

Oxton won a last ball thriller at Old Xaverians after the hosts reached 128-6. A brilliant partnership of 75 for the fourth wicket between Conroy Burton (48no) and Jack Corran (43) got Oxton close before the winning runs were hit in the final overs with Oxton five wickets down.

Parkfield Liscard progressed after Alvanley failed to raise a team.
