TRANMERE Rovers have confirmed the signing of striker Kristian Dennis on a two-year contract.

The forward, who counts Stockport County, Macclesfield and Notts County as former clubs, arrives fresh from clinching promotion with Carlisle United in this season’s League Two play-off final where he scored a penalty in the shootout following a successful campaign in which he netted 21 goals in 48 matches.

His deal at Prenton Park will begin on July 1 following the end of his contract at Carlisle.

The 33-year-old forward’s arrival strengthens Rovers’ striking options going into the 2023/24 season, adding experience and firepower up front to manager Ian Dawes’s side.

Dawes said: “It's great to bring Kristian to the Club. He comes off the back of scoring 20 league goals and helping Carlisle to promotion and I believe he can add the goals we lacked in the last campaign.

"He's one of only three players in League Two to score more than 20 goals last season and he also shares our mentality and desire to push for promotion this season.

"I look forward to working with him."

Technical director Nigel Adkins said: "Kristian provides further balance to our squad with his experience, his goals record and with also tasting promotion from this division last season.

"The development of young players with the likes of Sam Taylor, Harvey Saunders and Charlie Jolley is important for us. We appreciate the need to balance the squad with senior role models to assist with this and our desire to win games of football.

"I’m sure Ian and his staff are looking forward to working with Kristian when pre-season training starts later this month."

Dennis has a goalscoring record of 201 goals in 465 league games across his career so far, averaging a goal in almost every two games throughout his entire league career in total.

On joining Rovers, Dennis added: “I'm really happy. I came last week to meet the manager and was really impressed with the place.

"Every time I've played here, I've enjoyed it. There seems to be a good fanbase who are passionate and get behind the team. Hopefully I can score goals for Tranmere and get us up the league.

"It's a really good facility here (at the Solar Campus) and if everyone comes back with a fresh mindset and a fresh approach to the season, it should be a successful one which hopefully I'll be a part of.”
