DEFENDING champions Wallasey registered their third win of the league campaign with a crushing defeat of Orrell Red Triangle.
The hosts excelled with the ball as Danny Beaver (4-24) and Sohail Asilzada (4-33) combined to dismiss the visitors for just 114. Beaver then hit an unbeaten 50 as he and Jamie Crawley (65no) wrapped up a much-needed 10 wicket win.
At the bottom, New Brighton finally got off the mark with an excellent win over Formby at Cricket Path. The hosts collapsed from 68-1 to 165 all out thanks to a great spell from Sukhjit Singh, who took 6-49 from 21 overs, with Suliman Safi chipping in with 3-21. An unbeaten 67 from Owais Shah underpinned New Brighton's reply as they reached the target with seven wickets down.
Birkenhead Park are flying in Division One with eight wins on the bounce in all competitions. Ainsdale became their latest victims after a century from opener Mark Rowland (116) helped the hosts amass a total of 244-5 off 45 overs. Satyajeet Bachhav (4-21) and Khalid Wahbi (4-11) ensured a massive 166 run victory.
Caldy ended their run of six consecutive defeats with a battling draw at home to Highfield. Asiri Gamage (3-36) and Adam Brown (3-50) were in the wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 203. Opener Chris Edwards hit 66 but Caldy were left clinging on at the end as they finished on 154-9.
Parkfield Liscard prop up Division Two but a much-improved performance saw them come away from Prestatyn with a draw. Ashen Daluwattage top scored with an unbeaten 54 batting at nine as the visitors decked on 220-9 before Dinesh Reid's 3-48 almost clinched a first win of the season as the Welsh side closed on 204-8.
Irby are one place above the bottom after they lost at home to Fleetwood Hesketh. Ishan Aravinda De Silva (32) top scored as the hosts made 106 all out which the visitors chased down for the loss of five wickets. Smit Mehta finished with 4-49.
