VAUXHALL Motors are heading into the Unibond Premier Division next season. They fell 4-1 at Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday to confirm their relegation from the Blue Square North.

But they went down earning great praise for their football in the face of adversity, as they were forced into having three captains on the day due to injuries after Celtic raced into an early two-goal lead.

Tom Field netted for the Motormen, who then dominated midfield for long spells without much reward. Motors lost their original skipper, Craig Robinson, on 33 minutes and it was while they were down to 10-men and he was receiving treatment, that Celtic struck a crucial third.

This Saturday, Vauxhall entertain Hinckley United at Rivacre Park, Eastham, in their penultimate fixture (kick-off 3pm).
