VAUXHALL Motors’ extraordinary start to the season continued as they hit 10 goals in two games to progress in the FA Vase and maintain their lead at the top of the NWCFL Premier Division.

First up for Mick McGraa’s side on Saturday was a trip to South Yorkshire outfit Swallownest FC of the Northern Counties East League Division One in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase.

Goals from Bobbie McDonnell and Lewis Buckley gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at half-time, before Buckley put the tie beyond the home side in the 55th minute.

McDonnell grabbed a second in the 73rd minute and completed his hat-trick seven minutes from time to seal the rout.

The victory means the Motormen will face Emley AFC at home in the next round.

On Bank Holiday Monday, Vauxhall Motors welcomed nearby Burscough to The VanEupen Arena.

In front of a crowd of 228, McDonnell opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Buckley doubled the host’s lead just before half time.

Buckley hit a second with 66 minutes gone with Michael Burkey adding a fourth goal with nine minutes left.

Buckly completed his hat-trick in added time as the leaders made it sevens win out of seven with 18 goals scored and just four against.

Motors are next in action on Saturday afternoon when they face Longridge Town at The VanEupen Arena.
