CHESTER & Wirral Football League's Queensferry Premier Division kicked off on Saturday.

With the recent heat wave making conditions less than ideal, the teams braved the heat and four games got under way.

Featured game of the day saw Black Horse travel to Blacon Youth Reserves at Cairns Crescent.

In the early proceedings Black Horse dominated, but a combination of poor finishing and some great saves from Blacon keeper Liam Edwards kept Black Horse at Bay.

Midway through the second half a great through ball allowed Danyel Mullen to round the keeper and score the all-important goal as Blacon Held on to secure the win and left Black Horse wandering how they did not at least come away with a point.

Adam Harding, Ben Dobbie and Adam Riley scored for Helsby whilst Eddie Jebb, Paul Kane and Lewis Trodden hit Shafts goals.

Billy McGee netted a fine hat-trick as newcomers Lockdown FC got their season off to a fine start as they fired six past Neston Nomads Reserves, A James Bignall double plus one from Carl Phillips where the other Lockdown scorers.

Goals from Eroms Amros, Josh Leach and Conor Howley gave Hoole Rangers all three points as they ran out 3-1 winners against Runcorn thirds.

The CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets league tables have finally been released and will kick off on Saturday 3rd September in what looks like being an exciting season for Vets football.

In Division One David Carrington’s all conquering Mersey Royal Vets remain the team to beat with Peter Fearon’s Hooton Vets again likely to challenge.

Last season’s Division Two champions Ashton Vets will be hoping for more of the same whilst Higher Bebington Kelma will be looking to improve along with Capenhurst Reserves.

Tony Edge’s unbeaten division 4 champions Great Float Vets have jumped straight into Division One whilst west Kirby Vets also go from Division Three to Division One.

Newcomers Shaftsbury Vets will start in the top division as Shafts legends Ian (Biscuit) Crawford and Lee (Tash) Wharton look to give a good account of themselves in their debut season.

Division Two looks wide open and is extremely difficult to predict. Brothers Ricci and Ian Loughran have reformed Birkenhead FC as they make their comeback into the Chester & Wirral league as Vets, they along with Queens Park Vets now under the guidance of new manager Bernie Holmes and Assistant Dotty Bolton will both be hoping to get off to good starts.

Standing in their way will be Darren Maw’s unbeaten Division Three Champions Ellesmere Port Town along with Ellesmere Port Red Lions and Lache Vets and again will be looking to win the league themselves.

Tarvin Vets will be looking to improve on last season 3rd place finish whilst Newcomers Farndon Vets are unknown but could be a surprise package.

In Division Three Eastham Vets and Chester Nomads have both moved up a division after finishing second and third in Division Four last season. Nags Head, Winsford Diamonds and Frodsham Vets have all dropped a Division as all three clubs look to get back to winning ways.

Despite starting slowly last season Hartford Vets finished strongly and will be aiming to take that form into the new season whilst Great Sutton Vets will be hoping for a much better season this time round.

Parkfield vets and Rake and Pikel Vets are the surviving teams from Division Four last season as a number of new teams look to compete. Woolton Vets will put a lot of miles on the clock as they travel from Liverpool to compete in the CWFL.

FC Vaults and Crossway will be hoping to bounce back after relegation from Division Three. Dee Rangers Vets have dropped two division whilst newcomers Hoole Rangers Vets also make their debut.
