WALLASEY’S lead at the top of the Love Lane Liverpool Competition Premier Division is now 49 points following a 70 run win over Orrell Red Triangle.

Jamie Crawley hit 112 - his fourth century of the season - as the hosts reached 224-7 off 54.4 overs with Chris Davies also chipping in with 59. A wonderful 15 over spell from Harry Meehan saw the seamer then take 8-45 as Orrell were dismissed for 154.

New Brighton are in relegation trouble after they lost to local rivals Birkenhead Park at Park Drive. Half-centuries from Dan Cooke (61), Sebastian Botes (55) and Louis Botes (58) helped the visitors reach 260-7 off 53 overs but 91 from Mark Rowland and 82 from Thomas Foster led Park to a six wicket win despite David While’s 3-68.

Caldy are nine points from safety in Division One after a 75 run loss at Ainsdale. Chris Edwards claimed 3-76 as the hosts posted 222-7 before the visitors were dismissed for 147.

In Division Two, Parkfield Liscard suffered another embarrassing afternoon as they were bowled out for just 30 in reply to Maghull’s 222-8. Opener Robert Courtney managed to score 21.

There was more good news for Wallasey on Sunday as they overcame Rainford to reach the semi-finals of the Ray Digman Trophy. Crawley (74), Daniel Beaver (94) and Sumit Ruikar (81no) all filled their boots as the league leaders reached 294-4 off their 45 overs. Ruikar (4-17), Chris Bourne (3-37) and Crawley (3-48) then combined to dismiss Rainford for 202.

Birkenhead Park reached the semi-finals of the Cheshire Cup with a four wicket win over Chester Broughton Hall. Bailey Jones took 3-38 as the visitors reached 201-8 from their 40 overs before a brilliant 92 from Mark Rowland and an unbeaten 46 from Sam Beadsworth sealed the victory.

Elworth beat Oxton by six wickets in the day’s other quarter final.
