Vauxhall Motors . . . 2 Blyth Spartans . . . 2
VAUXHALL Motors had to settle for a point in their quest to pull away from the lower reaches of the Blue Square North after being held to a 2-2 draw by Blyth Spartans at Rivacre Park on Saturday.
The Motormen dominated the opening half, with Peter Heler scoring a fine goal after just 10 minutes, but despite their pressure it was the visitors who broke away to net the next goal, equalising on 35 minutes through Andy Johnson.
Paul Taylor then struck an absolute beauty to regain the lead for Andy Mutch's side on the stroke of half-time, only for Blyth to stage a decent second-half come-back and level matters again on 76 minutes through Chris McCabe.
Both sides hit the woodwork in the closing minutes of an all-action game, but a draw was a fair result of 90 pulsating minutes of football.
Vauxhall have no game this Saturday, but are away to Worcester City on Monday night before playing host to league leaders Kettering a week on Saturday.
