WALLASEY remain 42 points clear at the top of the Love Lane Liverpool Competition Premier League despite losing to bottom placed Formby.

Jamie Crawley (55) and Sumit Ruikar (60no) both hit half-centuries as the leaders confidently declared on 230-4 off 52.5 overs. Formby skipper Calum Turner then hit 119 as the hosts chased the target down for the loss of just two wickets.

Formby’s win ensured Birkenhead Park replaced them at the foot of the table following a heavy defeat to Leigh. Only two batters reached double figures as Park were skittled for just 61 before the visitors knocked off the runs easily for a seven wicket win.

New Brighton are just a point above the relegation places after a miserable batting display at home to Northern. The hosts lost their first three batters without scoring and were eventually dismissed for 66 before the visitors completed a six wicket win.

Caldy hauled themselves off the foot of Division One after winning a home match with Colwyn Bay. Corne Nel (84) and Martyn Evans (49) shared a 119 run partnership for the fourth wicket to take the hosts to 221 all out. The Welsh side were on course to reach the target until Lloyd Eastham took 5-39 to secure a 32 run victory.

Parkfield Liscard are still without a win at the bottom of Division Two despite Rasun Gamage (4-33) and Piushan Gamekankanamge (3-12) combining to dismiss Old Xaverians for 108. Another poor batting performance saw the visitors bowled out for 69.

In Division One of the Cheshire Cricket League, Wirral beat Bunbury by 22 runs after posting 132-9 from their 45 overs.

Irby’s Division Two clash with Appleton ended in defeat despite Gareth Jones hitting 109 during an successful run chase.

In Division Three Tranmere Vics beat Saughall by nine wickets with Burton losing at Kerridge.
