WALLASEY extended their lead at the top of the Love Lane Liverpool Competition Premier League to 40 points with a win at Orrell Red Triangle.

A big opening partnership of 142 between Jamie Crawley (93) and Daniel Beaver (54) allowed the visitors to post 244 for five off 51.4 overs before Sumit Raiker (4-49) and Andrew Beaver (3-12) polished off Orrell for just 109.

Birkenhead Park triumphed in the Wirral derby against New Brighton after a run-fest at Rake Lane. Batting first, the hosts recovered from eight for two thanks to an unbeaten century from Dan Cooke (136no) as they decked on 233 for six. Khalid Wahbi (3-42) was the pick of the bowlers for Park but it was opening batter Mark Rowland who was the real hero scoring 101 with good support from Thomas Foster (59no) as the visitors chased the target down for the loss of six wickets.

Caldy are rooted to the bottom of Division One following a seventh defeat of the season at home to Ainsdale. Electing to bat, the visitors compiled 220 for eight off 49.1 overs with Corne Nel picking up three for 34. Nel then hit a valiant 81 but the hosts were bowled out for 175.

In Division Two, Parkfield Liscard continue to struggle following another heavy defeat against leaders Maghull. Rasun Gamage struck 53 but the visitors collapsed, losing their last six wickets for 33 runs as they were dismissed for just 87. Maghull made quick work of reaching the target to complete a seven wicket win.

Wirral Cricket Club sit in the bottom three of the Cheshire Cricket League’s Division One after a six wicket defeat to Stockport Trinity which saw them bowled out for 128.

In Division Two, Irby suffered a narrow loss at home to Holmes Chapel who made 185 for seven. Nathan Wilkes hit 65 but the hosts’ chase fell 14 runs short.

Division Three saw Burton lose to Prestbury.
