NESTON suffered a huge defeat in the Cheshire County Premier League after Nantwich racked up a massive 306 for six including an unbeaten 156 for Marcus Stables.

Chris Finegan took four for 41 for Neston but the unlikely task proved far too much for the visitors who were dismissed 184 runs short of the target.

Oxton came away from Toft with a draw after the hosts posted 258 for eight with Chris Stenhouse (3-64) the pick of the bowlers. Matthew Jones (53) top scored as the visitors closed on 163 for eight.

In Division Two, William Colwell starred for Upton, hitting 63 as they made 161 for eight against Haslington. Spinner Sophie Morris then claimed five for 27 as the visitors were dismissed for 95.

Port Sunlight scored a good win at Warrington after Simon Melberzs’ unbeaten 60 helped the visitors post 212 for seven before Matthew Howard took three for 51 as the hosts were dismissed for 183.

Maritime are up to third in Division Three following a crushing defeat of Barrow. Muhammad Qasim Khan (50) and Vensakar Kanthiraj (66) were the match winners.

In the Southport and District Premier League, Birkenhead suffered a home defeat to Skelmersdale after the visitors posted 173 for eight from their 45 overs. There were three wickets apiece for Adam Seabury (3-45) and Dane Bryan (3-37) but the hosts were dismissed for 141 with Marc Samson's 35 the top scorer.
