VAUXHALL'S crucial 1-0 midweek victory at Hinckley United has given manager Andy Mutch and his squad a much-needed boost ahead of their return to Blue Square North action this weekend at Solihull Moors.

A 56th minute strike from unlikely hero Russell Hitchen gave the Motormen their first success of 2008 and, with results going their way in between times, now look to be in a far better position for the battles ahead in their quest to avoid relegation.

Saturday's trip to south Birmingham will be their sixth straight away league fixture, but next Tuesday they begin a string of home games when they welcome Tamworth to Rivacre Park (kick-off 7.45pm), subject to the Lambs having resolved their outstanding FA Trophy replay this week against Stafford Rangers.

This will be Vauxhall's first home league game of the year when the admission prices for adults will be £9, though the following Saturday's game, against Blyth Spartans, will be a special voucher game - see next week's Globe for details.
