A football team from Weatherhead in Wallasey has celebrated winning the U12 Wirral Schools Cup 2022.
In an exhilarating final held at Prenton Park, home to Tranmere Rovers FC, the team secured their place at the top and lifted the trophy, following an impressive 8-0 win against Prenton High School.

PE teacher and football coach Miss O’Looney said: "The team played absolutely fantastic and worked hard until the final whistle, they were an absolute credit to Weatherhead High School. An all round phenomenal team performance!
"The season started with a series of group stage matches with the team making it through to the quarter-finals, playing against Woodchurch High School.
"When the whistle blew at full time, their 3-1 win got them through to the semi-finals.
"The pressure of the semi-finals on May 9 didn’t phase the team as they secured a place in the Wirral Schools Cup final with a 6-4 win against Wirral Grammar School."
