OXTON lost their first game in the Cheshire County Premier League after Widnes won by 70 runs at Townfield Lane.

The visitors made 208 for eight with Chris Stenhouse’s three for 57 the pick of the figures before the hosts capitulated in the 47th over.

Neston picked up a second win of the season with a six wicket victory over Bowdon who made 206 for six from their 55 overs. Openers David Hurst (52) and Luke Camden (47) led the way as the hosts reached the target off 53 overs with four wickets down.

Upton enjoyed a big win over Hale Barns in Division Two after posting 222 for nine from their 50 overs with a century for Chris Stowell-Smith (108) and Matt Owen (68) contributing to a huge opening stand of 183. Philip McGowan (5-16) did the damage with the ball as the visitors were dismissed for 114.

Port Sunlight remain winless after losing by three wickets to Romiley. The hosts reached 145 for nine from 50 overs with Wayne Greve (32) top scoring. Simon Melberzs took three for 33 as the visitors overcame the target in the 48th over.

Division Three saw Maritime lose to Hawk Green.
