MIDWEEK action in the Chester & Wirral Football League Roodee Web Designs Tom Gerraghty Memorial Trophy semi-finals saw Capenhurst Villa Vets run out convincing winners as they beat Higher Bebington Kelma Vets 5-1.
Capenhurst will meet Parkfield Rangers Vets in the final as Parkfield defeated Hartford Vets 3-2 in the other semi-final.
More midweek action in CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2 saw Ashton Vets cement their position as tog dogs as they beat 3rd placed Winsford Diamonds Vets 5-1 with Ashtons’s goals coming from a Luca Trassati double plus Matt Edwards, Kev Leech and Tom Harrison all getting in on the act.
In the CWFL Queesnferry Sports Premier division John Mearns gave Unitor a deserved first half lead against Higher Bebington Kelma, but a Bryan Layfield header in the second half seen Kelma strike back to see the game game end 1-1.
Hatricks for Kynan Mason and Will O’Leary plus one from Adam Walker seen Black Horse Gallop to a 7-2 win against Upton JFC, with Sam Ismay and Tom Gulzar replying for Upton. A double from Lee Turkington was not enough for Helsby 2nds as Hooton bagged 3 and in doing so returned to winning ways, Hoot’s goals coming from Richie Feightman, Alex Groves, and Lewis Fearon.
Shaftsbury Youth indifferent form continued as they lost 2-1 against Runcorn Sports 3rd, with James Bignall and Kieran Butterworth netting for Runcorn and Paul Kane bagging for Shafts.
Eroms Amros netted twice for Hoole Rangers. but Mark Blake hit a double of his own for Cestrain Alex played as the game finished 2-2.
In the Olympic Trophies Championship division Ray Carr presented the Trophy to Groves F.C who ran out 4-2 winners against Chester Nomads 4th, a brace from Nicky Monoghan was supplemented with goals from Jack Hannigan and Daniel Page. It has been a brilliant season for Groves as they remained unbeaten throughout the league campaign winning twenty and drawing two of the twenty-two games played.
Helsby 3rd also had a good end to the season as the clinched 2nd spot and promotion to the Premier division as they beat Winsford Saxons 4-2, Helsby’s goals coming from Adam Riley (2) plus singles from Adam Harding and Ethan Weatheruo.
In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2 doubles from Liam Goulding and Chris Atkin gave Winsford Diamonds Vets 3 points, but only just as Nags head hit 3 in reply through an own goal and strikes from Paul Nicholas and Alex Morrisroe.
In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2 Chester Nomads Vets beat Eastham Vets 5-2 with Hamish McCornachire and Mark Smith both grabbing 2 each and Chris Harrison with a single.
