NEW Brighton pulled off a stunning one wicket win over Formby following an extraordinary game at Rake Lane in the Premier League of the Liverpool and District Competition.

Formby's Ian Cockbain, who recently starred in the Big Bash League for Adelaide Strikers, hit a mammoth 162 not out off 139 balls, as the visitors declared on 260 for three. Owais Shah (43), Sebastian Botes (49) and Matthew Thompson (45) all contributed but it was left to the tenth wicket pair, Mark Hale and Adam Neal, to seal the victory inside the last over of the match.

Wallasey recorded a huge 171 run victory over Leigh at the KJM Oval. An opening stand of 118 between Danny Beaver (93) and Jamie Crawley (62) allowed the hosts to declare on 226 for six with Sumit Raiker (6-13) and Greg Beaver (3-1) dismissing Leigh for just 55. 

Birkenhead Park came within a whisker of beating Southport and Birkdale in a drawn game at Trafalgar Road. Opener Mark Rowland top scored with 50 as Park reached 221 all out, but despite a brilliant spell of seven for 58 from Ahmad Safi Abdullah, the host's last wicket pair held out to close on 191 for nine.

In Division One, Caldy's Lloyd Eastham was unlucky to end up on the losing side after finishing with brilliant figures of eight for 33 as Rainford were dismissed for 160. Connor Windell hit 40 but Caldy were bowled out for just 107 in a 53 run defeat.

Parkfield Liscard's difficult start to the Division Two season continued with a 102 run defeat at Wavertree. P Gamekankanamge took five for 63 and N Hughes three for 43 as the hosts reached 226 for nine. The total proved far too much for the visitors despite an unbeaten for 45 for Gamekankanamge.
