OXTON got off to a winning start in the Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division with a 66 run victory over Brooklands. 

67 from skipper Luke Filer helped the visitors post 180 for eight before new Australian signing Joe Mennie took six for 36 and Chris Stenhouse chipped in with three for 32 to secure the win.

Neston clung on for a draw at Oulton Park after Danny Leech's 121 helped the hosts post 248 for eight from their 55 overs. Ashley Davis took six for 64 for Neston and he was unbeaten at the crease at the end as the visitors closed on 153 for nine. 

In the Cheshire Cricket League Division One, Upton got their campaign underway with a draw at home to Ashton-on-Mersey. Upton's David Williams took four for 40 as the visitors were dismissed for 219 before the hosts finished on 197 for seven.

Port Sunlight also drew in a thriller with Mobberley that went right to the wire after the visitors posted 196 for eight. The hosts just survived after finishing on 138 for nine.
