IT'S still nip and tuck in the race for the MSC Express West Cheshire League's Division One title after leaders Ashville, with efforts from Dan Hardman and Josh Maldon, won 2-1 at Marshalls and Mersey Royal, two points adrift but with a game in hand, beat Vauxhall Motors Res 5-1, courtesy of a goal apiece from Dillon Thomas, Andy Waring, Kieran Cartwright, Jamie Leyland and Jack Davies.

A fine hat trick from young Shay Roberts anchored Heswall to a 4-0 eclipse of Chester Nomads while basement outfit, Ellesmere Port Town, celebrated a welcome point after Sam Henry (2) and Luke Edwards netted in a 3-3 stalemate with Rainhill Town.

Runaway Division Two leaders Marine U23s, scored through Liam Paton but conceded two points when Mossley Hill Ath Res hit back through James Farr.

Third-placed Helsby maintained interest in the promotion race, when Lee Turkington and Sonny Dean found the net in a 2-0 victory over Cheshire Lines.

Efforts from Sam Hayley and Robbie Williams inside the first 18 minutes got West Kirby off to flier against Mallaby, who then played their joker in four goal marksman, Jack Ledsham, as the visitors achieved their fourth win in succession.

Division Three's match of the day pitted champions elect Sutton Ath against nearest rivals, Poulton Royal, in a game which finished with honours even, after a double from Sutton's prolific marksman, Connor Doyle was negated by replies from the visitors' Ryan Slater and Anthony Evans.

Third-placed Bootle Res cranked up their promotion drive following Friday evening's 11-1 rout of luckless West Kirby Res.

The hosts' contribution was provided by Connor Grant (4), Matty Corness (2), Jack Hughes (2), Luke Davies, Andre Santos and an own goal. Rob Topham claimed the Mariners' consolation.

Victoria Colts scored through Rocco Ceraolo but were second best against BRNESC who bagged the points after efforts from Alex McDermott (2), Jack Kelly and Jack Todd clinched a 4-1 win.
