Wirral 7, Otley 57
DESPITE having a number of injuries, Wirral stuck to their task against the league leaders, Otley, who did not score their first try until the 13th minute, not before Wirral themselves had made a telling break by Killene Thornton but could not capitalise on this.
In the period up to half time, Otley scored three tries, two from mauls by their bigger pack and then one from a fast moving back row forward.
In the period up to the break Wirral arranged to get on the scoreboard with a drive from a line out and touch down from Nick Hearn and conversion from Ben Brooks.
In the second half, much as Wirral toiled they could not contain this well organised Otley side who ran in a further six tries, three coming in the final 10 minutes.
Wirral still remain 8th in the table and next week play their rearranged home game against Burnage.
