EVERTON have sacked manager - and Caldy resident - Rafael Benitez after just over six months in charge.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at bottom club Norwich was a ninth loss in 13 Premier League matches, with the Toffees winning just once during that spell, and left the club just six points above the relegation zone.

Fans among Everton's travelling contingent demanded Benitez "get out of our club" in a banner, while another supporter invaded the pitch in a failed attempt to confront the 61-year-old Spaniard.

Benitez, whose previous jobs in the Premier League have been at Newcastle United, Chelsea (interim) and Liverpool, leaves Everton with a win percentage of 31.8% - his lowest record in charge of an English club.

He joined the Toffees last summer ahead of the start of the season.

Everton have 19 points after 19 games.

Only twice previously have the Goodison Park club had fewer points at this stage of a Premier League campaign.
