Only one fixture took place on Saturday in the West Cheshire League's Division One, but it was significant as title rivals, Mersey Royal and Bootle St. Edmunds went into the game defending unbeaten records.

Remarkably, Bootle have yet to taste defeat in any league game since joining the West Cheshire two years ago.

In Division Two, a Tila Davies effort failed to prevent West Kirby from capitulating 2-1 to replies from Mossley Hill Ath.'s Kieran Moran and Will Ward.

Division Three action saw Neston Nomads score through Harry Blair but it was Mersey Harps who profited 5-1, thanks to goals from Thomas McGreevey (2), Aaron Doherty (2)and Paul Kennedy.

Youth Division leaders, Vauxhall Motors, increased their lead at the top to seven points after they eclipsed AFC Knowsley South 6-0, with Harley Williams (3), Owen Allport, Alfie Tomlinson and Sam Stott on target.

Capenhurst Villa, inspired by a Steve Rowlands hat-trick and an effort from Dom Hoppe, emerged 4-0 victors against local rivals, Vauxhall Motors Res. in the Pyke Cup 1st round.

Heswall also progressed after goals from Matty Morris and Chris McGowan secured a 2-1 result over neighbours, Newton while Ashville went through on penalties, after goals from Shaun Farrell and Josh Maldon helped their side to a 2-2 finish with Maghull.

Despite efforts from Alex Kelly and Jay Leigh, Aintree Villa bowed out to replies from Chester Nomads' Ed Moss(2) and Alan Bond.

Tom Merrill bagged Ellesmere Port Town's consolation in their 2-1 defeat by Marshalls.

Poulton Vics scored through Danny Murphy and Connor Griffiths but came a cropper at the first hurdle in the Haworth & Gallagher Bowl when South Liverpool Res. hit back via Adam Shelton (2) and Luke Partington.

Two second half penalties from Jack Ledsham also counted for nothing, after Mallaby lost 4-2 to replies from Runcorn Sports.' Ryan Bazeley(2) Dom Bazeley and Cal McCaffrey.

Litherland Remyca Res. top scored when Jamie Alty (3), Lennon Whewell (2), Thomas Carney (2) and John Graham shared the goals in an 8-0 triumph over Rainhill Town Res.

Strongly fancied Helsby celebrated a 4-1 result over Cheshire Lines, thanks to efforts from Jamie Hayes(2) Lee Turkington and Jon Egerton.

A solitary strike from James Tucker was enough as Chester Nomads Res. went through to the West Cheshire Shield second round after victory at West Kirby Res.

High Winds at Harrison Park made play impossible which saw the tie between Poulton Royal Res. and Poulton Vics Res. abandoned.

Elsewhere, Capenhurst Villa Res. progressed when Louis Phelan, Liam Sparks and John Britton hit the target in a 3-0 result at Ellesmere Port Town Res.
