West Cheshire League Division Two minnows, Poulton Vics, secured their passage to the quarter finals of the Cheshire County FA Amateur Cup after pulling off a fine 4-3 result at Egerton.

Callum Morrison stole the show with a brace and further efforts from Tom Francis and Tom Quinn completed a job well done.

Division Two rivals, Mallaby, gave it their best shot in a no quarters given Birkenhead North derby at the Wirral Tennis Centre against current unbeaten Division One leaders, Mersey Royal.

But despite goals from Paul Ellison and Jack Ledsham, an opportunist double from Adam Smith allied to a Robbie Courtenay effort, saw the cup favourites record a 3-2 victory.

Josh Maldon struck twice and was joined on the score sheet by Tommy Johnstone, Peter Morgan and Ben Greenop, as Ashville accounted for Cheadle Heath Nomads 5-0.

Vauxhall Motors Res. completed a quintet of West Cheshire flag bearers through to the last eight after they overcame Winnington Avenue YC 2-0 courtesy of efforts from Charlie McInnes and Cam Inglis.

On the minus side, it was a bad day all round for West Cheshire clubs in the LCFA Challenge Cup 2nd round after Prescot Cables Res., South Liverpool Res. and Mossley Hill Ath. were dismissed by FC Orient, Garswood Utd., and Liver Academy respectively.

On the domestic scene, Louis O'Brien's solitary effort clinched all three points for Heswall in their Division One clash with third placed Capenhurst Villa.

Adam Wood, Connor Rankin and Jordan Holmes shared the goals as Maghull eclipsed bottom club, Ellesmere Port Town 3-0. An Eddie Hawthorne double together with efforts from Anthony Shinks, Jay Buckley and Steve Melville, sparked Rainhill Town to a 5-4 decision over Aintree Villa, who rallied via Joel Jackson, Liam Van Gelder, Matty Evans and Alex Kelly.

In Division Two, West Kirby's encouraging run of form was interrupted by second placed Helsby who took full advantage and posted a 9-0 win thanks to efforts from Lee Turkington (3), Lee Guiardo (3), Connor Lindsay, Sam Bailey and Jamie Hayes.

In contrast, Luis Braeger bagged the game's only goal, as Ashville Res. overcame Rainhill Town Res.

Current leaders, Marine U23s stayed three points in credit at the top, with Kyle Campbell (3), Joel Stringer and Darren Brannigan on the mark in Saturday's 5-1 success at Marshalls Res.

Elsewhere, the points were split after a double from South Sefton Borough's John Maguire was cancelled out by efforts from Runcorn Sports's Dom Bazely and Steve Woodward.

It was as business as usual for free scoring Division Three leaders, Sutton Ath., who put Ellesmere Port Res. to the sword and raced six points clear at the top. Connor Doyle (3), Ash Wardle (2), Matty Vickers (2) and Matty Hall netted in an 8-1 rout.

Third placed challengers, Bootle Res., scored through Sal Djabi, Joey Henry and Lewis Campbell but came unstuck against Mersey Harps, who landed a 4-3 result with Tommy McGreevey (2), Kevin Wilson and Eamonn Kelly making the score sheet.

Efforts from George Hindley and Harrison Cooper helped Goves to a 2-0 win over Chester Nomads Res. while an Alex Yates effort was enough for South Liverpool IIIs to deny Neston Nomads.

Heswall Res.' 4-0 victory at local rivals, West Kirby Res. was rubber stamped by goals from Jamie Steele, Ben Muirhead, Connor Egan and Dom Kendall.

Two goals from Steve Butler, allied to further strikes from Harry Robinson and Alex Sharp sufficed, as Runcorn Sports Res. won 4-1 against Willaston who had Ollie Lloyd in reply.

Sam McNeill and Alfie Tomlinson both struck twice and were joined on the score sheet by Toby Jones and Jamie Gann as Youth Division leaders, Vauxhall Motors pulled two points ahead of the chasing pack after beating Runcorn Linnets Yellows 6-2 . Nearest rivals, City of Liverpool Partisans forfeited ground following a 0-0 stalemate with Victoria Colts.

Two goals from Jack Boden were scant reward for Mossley Hill Ath. who capitulated 4-2 to replies from AFC Knowsley's Youseph Alasaly (3) and Simon Hagos.
