Only two Wallasey Sunday League fixtures survived the heavy rainfall that caused all other pitches to become unplayable and resulted in many postponements, but goals were plentiful in the games played.

Both fixtures took place in the Second Division and saw Shore Villa assume pole position following their 9-2 defeat of North West Harriers.

Villa surged home with goals from Ben Windle (3), Rob Davies (2), Connor Hallwood (2) and another brace from Ben Reilly, to make them the league’s top scorers. An own-goal and a strike by Connor Reeves were the replies for Harriers.

The second fixture resulted in a six-goal thriller as Oxton Celtic and Shore Villa Athletic fought out a 3-3 draw as Danny Ward netted a double and Harry Sutton a single for Celtic, with Tom Taylor notching a brace and Dylan Taylor a single for the responses.

All teams are reminded that fixtures can only be cancelled or postponed by Wirral Council whilst changing facilities are unusable or if match officials deem pitches unplayable.

The league secretary will inform teams if and when fixtures need to be changed for other reasons.
