Tranmere Rovers have boosted their attacking options by signing Liverpool striker Paul Glatzel on a season long loan, the club has announced.

The 20-year-old, who has been on the fringes of Jurgen Klopp’s first team, will link up with Micky Mellon’s side for the entire 2021/22 campaign.

Glatzel joins Tranmere with an impressive goal scoring record, finding the net 28 times in the 2018/19 season for LFC’s U18s.

He has represented Germany at both U15 and U16, and has also played for England at youth level.

Manager Micky Mellon said: “Paul has great qualities and he has joined us from a massive Premier League club. He has great technical quality, work rate and goal scoring ability alongside a desire to keep on improving. He has great ambition which is always great to work with.

“He is a player we know a lot about and when the opportunity became available to bring him in alongside building our relationship with Liverpool, it is a win-win situation. We felt it was the right move and we have brought a quality player into the group.

“He is very highly rated at Liverpool and they believe we can help him with his development and take him to the next stage and he will help Tranmere move forward with the group we already have.”
