On Wednesday Night in the Chester & Wirral Football League Premier Division, St Saviours suffered only their third league defeat of the season at the hands of Higher Bebington Kelma, writes Paul Graham.

Goals from Kenny Mahon, Andy Blakeborough and Brian Layfield earned Kelma a 3-2 final score.

The game between Shaftesbury Youth and Ellesmere Port was abandoned after 65 minutes with the score at 2-1 to the Port. The abandonment occurred after a leg break to Ellesmere Port player Joe Povall. All in the CWFL wish him a speedy recovery.

In the Championship A, Joe Roberts netted a consolation for Shaftesbury Youth Reserves in their 5-1 away defeat to Hoole Rangers.

On Friday night, Christleton FC beat Hoole Rovers 4-1 with goals coming from Matt Harland (2), Ben Waring and Jack Harding.

On Saturday in the Premier Division, Shaftesbury Youth entertained Groves Athletic in a great game of football. Shaftes came out 6-3 winners thanks to goals from Owen Ainscough (2), Ian McGraa (2), Steve Large and Eddie Jebb. Jack Rigby, Ryan Maxwell and Ryan Bailey netted for the Groves.

Back in the Championship A, Cestrian Alex move level on points with Upton JFC Youth after a 3-0 away win over Helsby thanks to strikes from Adam Crimes 2 and Tom Richardson. Shaftesbury Youth Reserves beat Princes Villa 2-1 with goals from Tom Ryan and Craig Kenyon.

Top scorers of the day were Runcorn Sports of the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship B who beat a brave Chester Nomads IV’s 10-1 with goals courtesy of Paul Humphries (3), Cal Handley (2), Josh Harper (2), George Rimmer, Matty Hayes and Aaron Pickavant.

Tom Wilkinson slotted home for Orange Athletic but goals from Ellis Moore (2), Billy Fennell, James Henry, Jim Lehman, Chris Varney, Raener Gray, Nahidur Rahman and Brandon Burrows gave Waggon & Horses a 9-1 win.

Farrell Duncan, James Cain and Jaymie Roberts were the Winsford Saxons scorers in the 3-1 win over Poulton Vics.

Avenue Vets are once again Champions of Vets Division 1. They beat Higher Bebington Kelma Vets 4-1 with goals from Chris McGinn, Danny Edwards, Kevin Bimpson and Chris Riley, John Moulton replied for Kelma.

CWFL Chairman Mike Williams, MBE, awarded the trophy after the game.

Steve Hickson netted for Capenhurst Villa Vets in their 1-1 draw with Neston Nomads.

In CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3 Ellesmere Port Red Lions Vets beat Queens Park Vets 5-1 with goals from Danny Norris 2, Mark Evans 2 and Neil Ashcroft. Tony Sample replied for the Queens.
