The junior wing of a Wirral cricket club has been reaping the benefits of working with a highly-regarded coach, even during lockdown.

Irby Cricket Club partnered with ECB Level 4 coach Bobby Denning and Fylde Coast Cricket Coaching in recent months to help take their young players to the next level.

Bobby has worked professionally in the world of cricket development and coaching for 20 years, in both the UK and overseas and most recently in the European Cricket Council programmes, with Spain.

In 2019 he was recognised by the England and Wales Cricket Board, for his work at International Level in the England Disability programmes. A prestigious Cap (pictured), reflects his time at home and overseas, latterly with the England Deaf Squad.

The Irby club says that Bobby has been instrumental in the development of their youngsters through their innovative Winter Academy programme, which focuses on skill acquisition as well as being a lot of fun.

There has also been a focus on coach development, as Bobby works alongside the club's coaches, providing them with incredible mentoring. This has allowed Irby CC's practices and processes to evolve, with the aim to provide the best junior cricket experiences in the area.

Lockdown restrictions haven’t halted their progress. Whilst the majority of sports venues and organisations have remained closed, Irby CC say that they have adapted to provide a unique virtual experience, allowing players to keep practicing and coaches, players, parents and members to remain connected throughout an isolating time.

Irby Cricket Club welcome new juniors players from five to 19 years old, offering a clear pathway to senior Saturday cricket.
