Tranmere are set to increase their attacking options with the capture of veteran striker David Nugent, the Globe understands.
The 35-year-old Preston North End forward, who played 14 times for England U21s between 2005 and 2007 and has one cap for the full national team, is expected to sign terms this evening in a loan deal that will keep him at Prenton Park until the end of the season.
Huyton-born Nugent won the FA Cup in 2008 with then-Premier League club Porstmouth, before enjoying a fruitful spell at Leicester City.
It is not clear if any players will leave Rovers to make way for his arrival.
More to follow.
