Tranmere's home match against Stevenage on Tuesday night is off, following a coronavirus outbreak.

But supporters will be relieved to hear that a health crisis has not struck down their squad, but that of the visitors to Prenton Park.

A statement published on the Birkenhead club's website said: "The Club (Stevenage) informed the EFL that they would be unable to fulfil the fixture following recent positive COVID-19 tests and the requirement for players and staff to self-isolate for 10 days as per EFL and Government guidance in order to mitigate against the risk of further infection.

"The circumstances surrounding the postponements will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations.

"Revised dates for the rearranged fixtures will be confirmed in due course."

Tranmere had been hoping to get back to winning ways tomorrow evening after suffering a damaging 5-0 loss at Exeter City last Saturday.

Their next match will now be away to Bolton Wanderers this forthcoming Saturday.
