Fourth placed Poulton Vics caused an upset on Saturday, after they pulled the mat from under MSC Express West Cheshire League Division Two title contenders Heswall.

The second placed outfit had Joe Ford on the mark, but it was Vics, inspired by hat trick hero, Ben Kearney who took the honours in a 4-1 victory. A further effort from young Liam Owen capped a memorable performance for the hosts.

Leaders Bootle St. Edmunds, with goals from Mike Davies, Mark Madden and Lewis O'Reilly, made it five wins from as many outings and went three points clear at the top, following a 3-2 result at Rainhill Town Res. who had Ben Donlevy and Andy O'Toole in reply.

Cheshire Lines won by the same scoreline at South Sefton Borough thanks to goals from Chris Cruikshank, Adam Todd and Perry Hughes but despite efforts from Danny McLoughlin and Paul Ellison, Mallaby also capitulated 3-2 to Poulton Royal, who celebrated their first win of the season - Callum Morrison, Anthony Corser and Darren Pritchard finding the net.

Anthony Bega netted for Marine Res. but it was the visitors, Maghull Res. who had the last laugh after Andrew Dawber, Mike Cummings and Adam Wilkinson replied to seal a 3-1 triumph.

In Division One, leaders South Liverpool forfeited their first points of the season after they finished 2-2 at Chester Nomads. The division's leading marksman, Charlie Mann, bagged both goals for the hosts while South's response came from Kev Martin and Jack McCourt.

Nearest rivals, Mersey Royal, moved to within a point of the leaders, after goals from Tom Morgan, Adam Smith and Liam Driscoll anchored them to a 3-0 win at Upton AA.

George Finlay was Capenhurst Villa's scorer but finished on the losing side to unbeaten fourth placed challengers, Redgate Rovers, who emerged 3-1 victors, courtesy of a goal apiece from Robbie McDonald, Jordan Dilworth and Anthony Poole.

A smart double from Mark Kelly failed to prevent Aintree Villa from going down 3-2 to replies from Vauxhall Motors Res.' Kieran Hamm (2) and Jamie Eaton.

Newton's second win of the season came with an emphatic 5-0 result at Maghull, and was confirmed by goals from Jack Leamy(2), John Paul Kissock, Ryan Beigan and Mike Williams.

Saturday's Division Three saw second placed Heswall Res. come unstuck, after they drew 1-1 with Capenhurst Villa Res., and that result enabled Marshalls Res. to open up a three point lead at the top. Amine Lamarti (2), Owen Pollard and Josh Lavender obliged in a 4-2 decision over West Kirby Res.

Goals from Lewis Carter (2), Sean Hayward and Jamie Woods assured Willaston of a 4-0 victory over Neston Nomads Res. which was their third win of the campaign and elevated the South Wirral outfit to sixth in the race for promotion.

A solitary strike from Steve Casey was enough as Poulton Royal Res. took maximum spoils from their tussle with Poulton Vics Res.

Four goal Matty Walsh had a field day as Heswall romped home 7-3 against Netherley Wood Lane in one of only two Youth Division fixtures which took place.

Alex Clarke (2) and Sam Maxwell were the other marksmen with Joe Harvey, Joe Walkington and Lewis Harding on target for the visitors.

Mike Stamper, Harrison Hindley, Tyler Jameson and Connor Kelly shared the goals as Vauxhall Motors accounted for Knowsley South.
