After a 27 week break due to Covid-19 The Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday Association Football League returned with an almost full League programme, only one game was lost due to the ongoing pandemic.

League stalwarts Rangers Breaks kicked off their season in Division Three with a fine 7-2 win at newcomers Parkgate St Germain with Chris Caress notching a perfect hat-trick.

]He was supported by Ryan Christionsen, Peter McNulty, Paul Leay and Scott Christionsen. Two new teams clashed in their debut game, with Wirral Athletic going down 0-3 to AFC Raeburn (Darren Whyte, Dominic Patrizi, Michel Foulks). 

Another couple of new clubs clashed with New Ferry Rangers' Henry Willett (2), Jack Kelly (2), John Paul Leasor (2), Jake Smith, Adam Larway & Jack Challinor all finding their shooting boots with a 9-0 romp over AFC Park Road North. 

Relegated Oval FC got off to a fine start against strongly fancied MSC Eastham with a 5-1 success, who had Jack Brown and Jake Norton with a brace each amongst the scorers.

Will and Dylan Gill earned the points for Silva Athletic over AFC Tima. A Jordon McAteer hatrick and an own goal was just enough for Glenavon Athletic to see off the challenge of Victoria Colts (Ryan Coles (2), Josh Ross) in a seven goal Thriller 4-3.

Luke Blondell and Jack Lloyd with a penalty for Neston Nomads was enough to inflict a rare league defeat on Dock AFC in the Premier Division. 

Rock Ferry Social had to thank Jon Strange with a double and a Charlie Mac effort to take maximum points over Bushell Grange Athletic (O.G., James Williamson) 3-2. 

Another 3-2 scoreline saw Lancelyn Glenavon (Joe Downey (2), Dan Dixon) beat FC Bidston (Paul Wallace brace). Just a solitary goal for Great Float Sports & Social took the spoils at promoted club Beechwood FC.

Result of the day in Division One saw Lions FC (Matt Kerr (2), Dave McElroy, Ameel al Gamri, Cameron Jones, Sam Langan) inflict a 6-2 defeat on Newly promoted FC Tranmere (Nathan Mewis double). 

There were 3-0 wins for both Wirral Radio FC (Connor Egan, Tom Williams (2) and Shaftesbury Youth over AFC Shaftes and Ellesmere Port Athletic respectfully. 

Telegraph (Mark Goodacre, Tom Ashcroft 2) posted a 3-1 result over Woodchurch Rovers (Matt Smith). A Brad Greer Strike was not enough for Corsair FC who dipped to Rivacre FC 4-1.

Division Two saw two more new clubs clash with Lee Doyle claiming a fine treble supported by a William New effort for Barkers FC against Madisons. 

The points were shared between JPL Jets and Belmont FC in a 2-2 draw. It was the same 2-2 scoreline between Wellington FC (Joe Kelly, Joe Croft) and Upton Town (Brendan Doherty, Alex Pitt). 

The Lukes made their bow with a close encounter also with another new club ,Bromborough Rake, 3-2. On the scoresheet for The Lukes were Will Foster, Dan O’Hanlon and Will Bulpin. 

Barcode FC (Danny France, Mark Cooper, Alex Clare, John Allan, Kieran Doherty, Andy Mckiver) put six past Vauxhall Motors FC with only one in reply.
