HESWALL put Litherland Remyca to the sword in Saturday's West Cheshire League Division Two clash, and as a result moved to within five points of current leaders Prescot Cables Res. with a game in hand, writes Ernie McDonald.

Doubles from Paul Lindfield, Scott Connolly and Steve Forbes were supplemented by further efforts from Kieran Hughes, Kieran Harris and Matty Beaman as the Gayton Park outfit posted a 10-1 result and now boast the the Division's best goals difference.

At the Wirral Tennis Centre, Mallaby celebrated a league double following an impressive 5-1 eclipse of Poulton Royal, highlighted by a sparkling double from Mike McLean.

Joel Hughes also netted twice and a Jack Ledsham effort completed the scoring for Neil Pickering's side.

John Pomfrett scored Royal's consolation. Elsewhere, homours were shared, after a goal from Rainhill Town Res' George Turner was negated by a reply from Cheshire Lines' Perry Hughes.

The Division One programme was curtailed due to the West Cheshire representative side's involvement in the FA Inter- League Cup competition and it was another good day for the West Cheshire who accounted for the Chesshire Association League 3-1, courtesy of a goal apiece from Mason Nevitt, Louis Gorman and Brad Williams.

Only one fixture took place in Division One, and it was a profitable run out for Mossley Hill Athletic who won 4-0 at Rainhill Town, with Sean Harrison, Mike Fernehough, Elliot Hughes and Joe Hornby on target as the second-placed challengers eroded South Liverpool's lead at the top to eight points with a two game in hand advantage.

Saturday's Division Three action saw third placed Bootle Res. bolster their bid for promotion after efforts from Steve Rothwell (2), Josh Ilesanmi (2), Salem Djabi, Ross McFall and Karl Loughlin anchored their side to a 7-2 decision over Heswall Res who had Cam Daulby and Joss Matthews in reply.

Louis Phelen netted for Capenhurst Villa Res, but a reply from Johnny Chu assured visitors Aintree Villa Res of a share of the points.

Josh Lavender weighed in with four goals as Marshalls Res. romped home 8-2 against Chester Nomads Res.

Nima Naseri, Kian Johnson, Eddie Hawthorne and Danny McCrystal netted the remainder with Louis Moss and Joshua Gannon obliging for Nomads.

Willaston made a return to winning ways thanks to a 5-1 win against Pensby FC, confirmed by efforts from Lewis Carter (2), Sean Lunt, Connor Highes and Robbie Hicks. Dan O'Halloran was Pensby's marksman.

Finalists for the West Cheshire Shield were resolved at the weekend, a solitary effort from Chris Hunt getting Helsby over the line at the expense of Rainford Utd while Joe Williams and Zak El Beshri applied the finishing touces as Marine Res. beat Poulton Vics. Lathan Forrester found the net for Vics.

In the Youth Division, third placed Marshalls U17s were indebted to goals from Ben Craig (2), Kyle Henshaw (2) and Alex Hennessy which helped them to a 5-2 decision over Newton U18s.

Matt Webster and Reece O'Neill netted for the Frankby outfit.

This Saturday's match of the day sees Division One heavyweights, South Liverpool and Ashville lock horns at the Jesricho Lane Hub for the right to face Redgate Rovers in this season's Pyke Cup final.
