UPTON AA assumed pole position in the race for the West Cheshire League's Division One title after they posted a narrow 2-1 result over Vauxhall Motors Reserves. 

A smart double from Will Kent was enough to seal a win, which took the Chester challengers to top spot on goal difference.

Local rivals, Chester Nomads, had Ed Moss, Charlie Mann and Jack Delgado on target but relinquished the leadership after they went down 4-3 at home to reigning champions Newton, who had three goal Jack Leamy in top form.

Honours were shared after an effort from Marshalls' Alex Schultz was negated by a reply from Ashville's Kian Johnson, while John Wainwright, Danny Page and Dan Walker found the net, as seventh placed Capenhurst Villa beat Neston Nomads 3-1.

New leaders in Division Two are Heswall who accounted for Poulton Royal 4-1, courtsey of goals from Jamie Hurworth (2), Scott Connolly and Kieran Harris.

An Ally Major double was supplemented by a further effort from Matty Madden as West Kirby triumphed 3-2 at Litherland Remyca Dev and a hat-trick from Adele Mohammed inspired Mossley Hill Ath Res to a 4-1 win over Rainhill Town Res.

Fourth-placed Mersey Royal stayed in the promotion equation when efforts from Andy Rogers, Tom Morgan and Kieran Cartwright anchored Glynn Norman's men to a 3-2 victory over South Liverpool Res.

Saturday's Division Three action saw leaders Bootle St Edmunds stay two clear of the chasing pack after Mark Madden bagged both goals in the 2-0 eclipse of West Kirby Res, while nearest rivals Rainford Utd celebrated a 4-2 win over Willaston thanks to an Alex Grisedale hat-trick.

Josh Woods went one better with a four goal return as Marine Res. routed Neston Nomads Res. 11-0.

Danny Kendall struck twice for Heswall Res but it was hosts Pensby FC who profited 3-2 with replies from Jack Brown Kieran Jones and Dan O'Halloran.

John Britton's treble helped Capenhurst Villa Res to a 6-0 victory over Chester Nomads Res and goals were in abundance as Helsby finished 3-3 with Poulton Vics.

In the Youth Division, Joel Killen (2), Lewis Ward, Jeff Duffy, Liam Owen and Lonnie Beck all made the scoresheet as Poulton Vics U18's romped home 6-1 at Bootle U18s.

Current leaders Lower Breck made it five wins from as many starts, after they overcame third placed Vauxhall Motors U18s 7-1 with Ben Wynne (3), Jack Ward (2), James Hammill and Alfie Roberts on the mark.

On Friday evening, six goal hot-shot Kyle Henshaw pulled out all the stops as Marshalls U17s blitzed luckless Victoria Colts U17s 14-0.

Congratulations to Litherland Remyca Youth who beat City of Liverpool Youth 3-1 in the FA Youth Cup.
