Cammell Laird 1907 1, Vauxhall Motors 4

FORMER Nottingham Forest defender Joe Heath turned top marksman by hitting a 20-minute second half hat-trick to catapult Vauxhall to the runners-up trophy, away at Cammell Lairds, as Motors won for the fifth successive match.

After a tight first half, in which both sides went close without seriously testing either keeper, Motors hit a purple patch at the start of the second half, scoring three times in just four minutes.

The first came after 47 minutes when a Karl Noon corner was converted by Heath from six yards out and, just two minutes later, he repeated the feat with a header from a corner on the other side.

And on 51 minutes, Motors made it 3-0 as Greg Drummond’s cross was beautifully tucked away by George Hassall at the near post.

Lairds responded soon after when Bailey Thompson reduced the arrears, again from close in, following a free kick to the far post, but Motors were already in cruise control by this stage and on 67 minutes, Heath completed his hat-trick with yet another close range header from Ben Holmes' free kick.

The victory confirmed Motors as Hallmark Security League Division One South runners-up and the trophy was presented at the final whistle by League chairman Paul Lawler.

Motors round off this successful season with a visit to Stone Dominoes on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
