DUE to mid-week fixtures in the Second division Halfway House secured the divisional title with a hard fought 2-2 draw versus Eastham Rangers Colts and then added some gloss by beating Paolos FC in the Wirral DFA Junior cup final in a 2-0 success that saw them put in a superb team effort.

Their ace marksman was Joe Skinner who fired both goals to secure the win.

The one club fixture in the Youth Divisions cup final saw Groves FC win an entertaining battle versus Groves Rovers as they netted a goal in each half to take the trophy.

Conor Howley scored the first with the second being an own goal in this historic game.

Joe Whittle claimed Groves man of the match award and gaining the same accolade for Rovers was their captain James McKinnon, whose team provided stern opposition in the blustery conditions.

First Division action saw leaders Nelson FC drop vital points when drawing 2-2 with JASGA PV in an end to end fixture. Lewis James put Nelson ahead before Darren Pritchard levelled, but Ben Dunn recaptured the lead before Mike New netted a penalty to ensure honours were even.

Poulton Vics saw their way past Liver View as they eased home 8-0 with goals from Phil Magee-3, Jack Ledsham, Jordan Winstanley, Mike McLean, Lewis Wright and Sean Gandy and they are now second with two games in hand. Queens Liscard drew 1-1 with PLCCFC as Adam Hannigan scored, but Jason Flaherty fired the equaliser.

The fight for second place in the Second Division continues due to Trident drawing 2-2 with close rivals Vineyard who led twice in this vital game.

Netting for Trident were Sean Ronald and John Berry with James McClennan and Rob Bessell replying. A goal apiece from Mike Ratcliffe and Luke Fitzmorris earned Runcorn Select a slender 2-1 victory over Eastham Rangers Colts whose lone scorer was Andy Rogerson. Despite Matty Ryan and Josh Cooke scoring for Eastham Rangers they went down 4-2 versus Barnston PV who had Ricardo Royes-2, Jason Stephens and Jack Grimes on target.

ACA Sports dented the title hopes of Upton Youth in the Groves Youth division when beating them 1-0 with a scrappy Owen Donnelly goal that leaves them three points behind but with games in hand that could help decide the outcome of the division.
