DESPITE a 3-3 stalemate at Redgate Rovers in midweek, West Cheshire League Division One leaders Newton remained on course for the title they last won in 2017.

They currently boast a five-point advantage with three games to play.

Robbie McDonald obliged with a hat-trick for the hosts on Wednesday with Ross McDowell (2) and Leighton Smith in reply for Lee Kissock's champions elect.

At the other end of the table, despite efforts from Rob Harper and Dan Abayomi, Marshalls' hopes of avoiding relegation suffered, when replies from Kevin Fields, Jamie Easton and Phil Quillian sealed a 3-2 result for Ellesmere Port Town.

Luke Finch netted for Upton AA but also finished on the losing side, after South Liverpool emerged 3-1 victors, thanks to goals from Mason Nevitt (2) and Kevin Cringle.

Following a 1-1 draw with Maghull in midweek, Vauxhall Motors Reserves returned to winning ways with a 3-2 eclipse of Ashville, confirmed by goals from Harry Taylor (2) and Matt Williams. A Luke Fitzgibbon double was the visitors' contribution.

Matt Redmond found the net for basement side West Kirby, but it was visitors Hale who profited 3-1, courtesy of a goal apiece from Kevin Dickinson, Brad Mason and Louis Corness.

In Division Two, leaders Page Celtic had to put the victory champagne back on ice after they capitulated to a solitary effort from third-placed Heswall's Jamie Hurworth.

Third-placed Mersey Royal were indebted to efforts from Andy Rogers, Mike Williams, Leon Detlaff and Ryan Coles which anchored Glynn Norman's outfit to a 4-0 win in their Division Three clash with Capenhurst Villa Res, while four-goal Eddie Hawthorne left his calling card as Marshalls Res beat Heswall Res 6-1.

A Dan Forrester double completed the scoring for the hosts.

Poulton Royal top-scored on the day, after they routed Ellesmere Port Town Res. 10-1 ,with goals from John Pomphrett (4), Tom Farrington (2), Jaimie Payne, Lee Bridge, Andrew Beaman and Karl Barker.

Saturday's Youth Division action saw West Kirby U18's win 3-0 at Bootle Academy, inspired by a Jack Darlington treble.

Respective scorers in Vauxhall Motors U18'S 4-4 nail biter with leaders, Bootle U18's ,were Harry Taylor (2), Lewis Ward, Frankie Ward, Aiden Noon (2), Joe Carroll and Jamie Barnes.

Congratulations to Lower Breck U17's who secured their passage to The Jimmy Brain Youth Plate final, after goals from Charlie Hill, Alf Dwyer, James Hammill and Simon Grace helped their side to a 4-2 victory over Maghull U18's, Will O'Pray and Nick Sutton scoring the hosts' consolations.

The West Cheshire AFL invite applications for the post of honorary publicity officer for 2019/20 season. The successful applicant would be responsible for compiling a weekly Round Up for the League's website and for the issuing of a periodic News Letter which would be on a quarterly or more frequent basis, and can be on paper or digital format.

Help would be provided in integration into the role.
