Vauxhall Motors . . . 2VAUXHALL'S love affair in the North East continued on Saturday as they recorded their first away league success of the season in the Blue Square North and their second successive weekend victory in that area, following their excellent FA Cup win at Gateshead seven days previous.
A superb first-half strike by Anthony Wright, following a fine run by Rob Marsh-Evans, opened both his account for the season as well as the scoring on the day on 36 minutes.
Tom Field wrapped up the three points seven minutes from time, after good work by Paul Taylor. Visiting goalkeeper Sean Lake never had a serious effort to save throughout and new signing Peter Heler, who arrived from Alsager in midweek, made a decent debut.
The Motormen now turn their attentions back to the FA Cup this Saturday, with a testing trip to high-flying Unibond Premier Division club Guiseley, as they look to book their place in the final qualifying round.
Prior to that Vauxhall's youngsters travel to Woodley Sports Centre, Stockport, for an equally important FA Youth Cup tie on Thursday evening.
