TONY Houlihan League Memorial Challenge Cup Quarter finals were the order of the day in The Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday Association Football League.

Corsair FC had to go to extra-time to clinch their place in the hat after a fine 4-2 win over second division rivals South Rangers Athletic (Nathan Patrick, Matthew Vaggers).

Brad Greer, Jason Bull, Sam Hewitt and Leon Clarke all notched a goal apiece for the Corsair side.

It was also the same between Heygarth FC and Shaftesbury Youth.

Premier Division outfit Heygarth had a hat-trick hero in Dayne Murphy and a further strike from Ki Hughes to claim a semi-final slot after extra.

On the scoresheet for Shaftesbury Youth were Lewis McKnight and Tyler Smith.

Cup holders Queens Park also secured a place in this season's semi finals with a narrow 3-2 win over Neston Nomads (Callum Blondell, Jack Lloyd).

Saughall FC (Danny Whitehead 2, Owen Kelsey, Scott Nickson, Adam Winstanley) disposed of Lions FC (Samir Al Gamri) with a comfortable 5-1 result,

In the two supplementary competitions group stages, Birch Tree had two hat-trick heroes in Liam Rose and Kieran Hamm at New Ferry Rangers in the Houlihan's BSL Invitation Trophy group B game.

Rock Ferry Social top the group with maximum points after two games; the latest being a narrow 3-2 win over AFC Shaftes (Ryan Griffiths, Spencer Davis) finding the net for Social were a brace from Ben Dufton-Kelly and an Adam Lea strike, Great Float Sports & Social accounted for Ellesmere Port Athletic (Charlie Jones) in a Group 'A' tie.

Action From Joey Griffiths Invitation Group 'B' saw Oval FC (Kane Wilson 2, John Skipsey, Mark Doyle, and Simon Cook) eclipse AFC Tima (Stuart Davies, David Turner).

CAD Athletic (Tommy Atherton and Josh Hatton 2) top the group securing a 3-2 win on FC Tranmere (Dave Sadler Mario Balatichiev).

This Sunday (February 3) sees the semi finals of the Wirral Football Association Sunday Premier Cup and the Sunday Amateur Cup.

An all-Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday Football League final is guaranteed in The Premier Cup and one finalist will be firmed up in the Sunday Amateur Cup and possibly a 50/50 chance of a second all Birkenhead League Final
