THOUGH there had been rain in the night the green was in excellent condition for the Flyers Tournament on Sunday.

Over the years Tixall's Mick Andrews has been the most successful player in these tournaments and in his first appearance since the New Year he came through some stiff competition to, yet again, take the winning spot beating Robbie Fitzpatrick, also of Tixall, in a hard-fought final.

In his quarter-final game he beat New Brighton Quarry Viking's Joe Edwards, the winner from two weeks ago and then he had to get the better of Tixall's Jamie Fitzpatrick in the semi final. In his run to the final Robbie Fitzpatrick had to be at his best to overcome two of the players who had come over from North Wales, Hawksbury's Paul Roberts and John Jones.

As might have been expected from these two players the final was a great game but in the end it was Andrews who came out on top to take yet another win.
