TWO CWFL teams were in Cheshire FA Amateur Cup Quarter Final action this week with differing results.

Shaftesbury Youth travelled to Cairnes Crescent in Chester where they faced a very good Blacon Youth side losing 6-1, Danny Whitehead their scorer.

Helsby, on the other hand, travelled along the M56 to play Stockport Georgians FC and came away with a stunning 3-2 win, thanks to goals from Mick O’Neill (2) and Adam Collins.

In the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division, St Saviours remain top after a 2-1 win over Higher Bebington Kelma, Jack Shepard and Adam Storton their scorers.

Newton are now second, three points behind but a game in hand.

They beat Ellesmere Port FC 5-1 with goals from Dan Christianson, Dan Eaton, Marc Moorefield and Adam Pownall (2).

Peter Barnett netted twice for Sutton Athletic as they beat Blacon Youth Reserves 2-0.

Sam Burgess, Chris Varney and Matty Woodward all scored for Christleton FC in their 3-2 win over Cestrian Alex, Will Balance and Josh Camy their marksmen.

Crossway started off 2019 with a 5-0 win over Orange Athletic in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship with goals from Greg Campbell (2), Matty Leedham (2) and an own goal.

Helsby Reserves continued in their good run of form with a 4-1 win over neighbours Elton Athletic thanks to strikes from Ryan Bazley, Kier Fenlon, Josh Archer and Joe Gough.

Dean Disley netted for Elton.

Christleton Argyle were the days big scorers with a 15-0 win over the hapless FC Park North.

Tom Anderson, Joe Ritz, George Patchett and Jack Sailes all scored for Groves Athletic in their 4-2 win over Hoole Rangers that sees them move into third place.

Hoole Rovers and Chester Nomads III fought out a 0-0 draw while the game between Rossmore Rangers and Princes Villa ended 2-2.

Si Whelan and Tom Fletcher were the Rossmore scorers with Jay Holroyd and Chris Jones replying for Princes.

FC Duddon had George Gregory (2), Alex Carroll and Jonathan Hallam on the mark as they beat Eastham Ferry 4-1, Mark Smith their scorer.

In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division East Upton JFC Vets are in second place after their 3-2 win over Nags Head Bunbury Vets.

Simon Mitchelson and Alex Morrisroe were the Nags Head scorers.

Ant Rouse and Phil Reeves were on the mark for Farndon Vets as they beat Dee Rangers Vets 2-0.

Frodsham Park Vets beat Hartford Vets 2-1 in the days other game.

The CWFL are now accepting applications from teams who wish to enter any of our competitions for the 2019 – 2020 season.

The league has spaces available in the Open Age Saturday divisions, Vets Saturday divisions and the Midweek Monday and Friday Flexi Divisions.
