IN contrast to the good weather the Flyers Tournaments have enjoyed over the past few weeks, The Top Sixteen Tournament was played in continuous rain.

Despite this the players generally enjoyed their games: None more so than Hoylake Central's Tommy Walker who went one better than his performance the previous week, this time winning the final in a really tight game against Jamie Fitzpatrick.

Walker strolled through his first game against young Jon Bendrey but in the quarter-final against Mick Andrews he had the first of his very tight 21-20 wins to progress through to the semi-final.

In the semi-final, he came up against Cammell Laird's Peter Holian who had played very well in his first two games but Walker kept his form and he had a very comfortable win.

Fitzpatrick was fairly dominant in his three games on his way to the final beating Vic Williams, Eddie Dutton and Joe Edwards.

Initially the final was fairly tight with both players playing very well but when Fitzpatrick went into an 18 – 12 lead it looked all over.

However, Walker fought back and he managed to clinch his victory with a tremendous final lead from 20 across.
