VAUXHALL Motors face their most important game of the season so far on Saturday, when they travel to Gateshead for an FA Cup second qualifying round tie.

While the Motormen have endured a difficult opening to their Blue Square North campaign, their North Eastern hosts have been blazing a trail at the top of the Unibond Premier Division - and on present form, must be regarded as favourites to progess, a prospect the Rivacre Park club can ill afford to consider.

On the positive side, Motors have a tremendous record against clubs from this corner of the country and can only hope they can added to that success this weekend.

Any replay will be next Tuesday (October 2) at Rivacre Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

Last Saturday, the Motormen fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at basement club Hucknall, having lost hot-shot striker Paul Taylor to injury in the pre-match warm-up.

Prior to that, they gained a valuable point in midweek with a hard-working display against Nuneaton, in which former York City and Scarborough defender Mark Hotte made his Vauxhall debut.

Meanwhile, Vauxhall are actively looking for volunteers on match days for both first and second team games.

Anyone interested in helping out should make themselves known to club officials whenever possible.
