WEST Kirby Victoria's John Harrison played very well throughout the morning to take the second of this season's Winter Flyers Tournaments in Birkenhead Park.

In the final, he beat Quarry Viking's Owen Turner to see off a big challenge by several of the Quarry Viking squad.

After getting through against Neil Turner in the Quarter Finals Harrison only just overcame the Arno's Zoe Stratton who is making a real impression on her visits to these tournaments.

Meanwhile, Owen Turner had a fairly comfortable win against his team mate John Cosgrove before being taken all the way by Gladstone's Joe Edwards in their semi final match.

Harrison generally had the upper hand in the final and he completed a well deserved victory.

Virtually all the games in the Birkenhead and Wirral Afternoon Section have now been completed and in the first division Higher Tranmere Vets are the champions.

Last year's winners Heswall RBL are currently in second place but there is still a possibility that Manor Road, with two games to play, could overtake them.

In the second division West Kirby Victoria have finished on top and they will be returning to the first division along with Port Sunlight Village and Works while in the third division Wallasey RBL and Capenhurst 'B' have finished first and second.
