THE only notable game for teams from the Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday League in the Wirral District Football Association was the terrific 5-3 win for Woodchurch Rovers at Park Royal FC.

Leading the way with a brace was Callum Whitby, supported by singles from Craig James, Kevin Ford and James Morris.

Game of the day took place on the domestic scene in Division One with a classic match in horrendous conditions between Neston Nomads and New Ferry Rangers.

The game finished all square with a last-minute equaliser New Ferry Rangers.

On the mark for Neston were Rob Marrs (2) and a penalty converted by Jack Lloyd.

New Ferry Rangers' replies came from Dave Sadler, Scott Connolly and Michael Jeffs.

Lions FC (Steve Dutton pen, Matty Kerr) defeated division leaders Shaftesbury Youth 2-1 and a hat-trick from Leon Jones saw Bushells Athletic beat FC Vineyard 3-1, taking pole position.

Ellesmere Port Athletic recorded their first maximum off the season with a deserved 2-0 won at Telegraph FC with Paul Parsonage and Ross Grimes finding the net.

Heygarth FC (Kieran Hughes, Dayne Murphy (2)) hit fine form in the Premier Division and took top spot on goal difference after accounting for Great Float Sports and Social 3-0.

Kevin Machin and a 40-yard thunderbolt from Stewy Hardman earned Birch Tree their first league win of the season at Saughall FC.

Dock FC (Steve Owen (2), Danny Dixon, Dave Forbes, Dean Nunn) had a comfortable 5-0 success over basement club Rock Ferry Social.

Division Two action saw all three leading clubs drawing, Corsair FC (Brad Greer, Leon Clarke, Paul Ryan) drop points for the first time in a splendid 3-3 draw with South Ranger Athletic who had to thank Ben Ryan for his treble strike.

Stirrup Sports & Social (John Duddy, Rob Blackwell) traded goals with Beechwood FC, who had Jamie Manifold and a screamer from Jake Jones to thank for a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Franklyn (Jay Harvey, Ross Waring, Alex Wilson and Jack Hussey) kept up the pressure after registering their third maximum and still have a 100 record with games in hand after beating Oval F (John Skipsey) 5-1, CAD Athletic (Karl Evans, Josh Hatton) registered a narrow 2-1 win at Wirral FC (Tom Williams) in a mid-table clash.

The only game in Division Three saw Barcode FC serve up another three points at FC Tranmere (Brad Brady), thanks to a double from Luke Male supplemented by efforts from Shaun Skillen, Dan Randall and Kieran Doherty and claim top spot with a strong 5-1 result.

Next week will see the start of all four divisional cups.
